The story takes place in Paris between 2020 and 2023, at the French subsidiary of an American pharmaceutical company specializing in research and development of innovative health technologies. It begins with the assassination in May 2022 of an American investigative journalist, a press correspondent in Europe for various newspapers in his country, just as the French President is due to make a state visit to the United States at the end of 2022. Given this tense diplomatic context, the judicial police officers in charge of the investigation will have to work under pressure. In the course of the latter, they are going to interview a key witness who is going to tell them the sequence of events that, according to her perception, could have led to this incident. They will discover a number of management errors and breaches of medical ethics within the laboratory. One thing leads to another, and not one, but three investigations become intertwined.
